Access maps in Chicago

Search the library catalog, or view more Maps and GIS search tools and online resources. If the map is not available online, you may access it in person by visiting the Special Collections and University Archives reading room in the Richard J. Daley Library (hour and dates open) in Chicago.

Search the Library Catalog

      1. Enter keyword, title or creator.
      2. Narrow your format to “map.”
      3. Write down call number, title, date and any other identifying information.
      4. Ask a Librarian to set up an appointment to view the map.
      5. A maps expert will email you when it is ready.

Can’t find it?

Not all of our maps are cataloged. Ask a Librarian to see if we have what you’re looking for.

No photocopying rare maps

Our maps are precious resources, many of them are fragile and rare. You’re welcome to take photographs of rare maps with your digital camera (no flash please).
