Find films, videos and sound recordings

The Books & Media search box on the library home page can search media from several Illinois libraries (not just UIC). There are several other tools for streaming film, videos and sound recordings, and you can request items to be delivered from other libraries.

Find media in your library

  1. Enter keywords, title, author or ISBN in the home page Books & Media search, also called Summon.
  2. Limit your search in the left column:
    • Content type: Video recording, music recording, streaming audio or streaming video
    • Library location: UIC

You can also search the UIC Library catalog directly.

Request media from Illinois libraries through I-Share

  1. Enter keywords, title, author or ISBN in home page Books & Media search, also called Summon.
  2. Limit your search in the left column:
    • Content type: Video recording, music recording, streaming audio or streaming video
    • Library location: Any

Or you can search the I-Share catalog directly. To order media from I-Share:

  1. Check that you have a Library account.
  2. Click “Request 1st Available.”
  3. Log in.
  4. Select your “pick-up library” and location.
  5. Click “Request.”
  6. You’ll get an email when the book is ready to pick up (usually 2-4 days).

Request media from libraries world-wide

If you do not find the book you need in I-Share, the UIC Library will borrow it for you at no charge from another library. This interlibrary loan service takes longer than an I-Share request.

  1. Search the WorldCat catalog.
  2. Click Find it @ UIC
  3. Pick your library (Note: You’ll need to use the same library every time).
  4. Login to ILLiad (click First time users if you do not have an account).
  5. Review the request and click Submit.

You’ll get an email when the item is ready to pick up (usually 7-10 days).
