  • Get photocopies or scans or take pictures in Special Collections and University Archives

    Library staff in the Special Collections and University Archives reading rooms will photocopy for you, and fees will apply. You may take photographs of items in most collections with a digital camera. In some cases, photocopies, scans or photographs are not permitted.

  • Do History Fair research

    Figure out what collections or rare books you’ll want to access for your Chicago Metro History Fair project. From the finding aids for the collections, note specific box and folder numbers you need. Ask a Librarian to make an appointment to visit Special Collections and University Archives. Please note, if you are under 16, you will need to bring your parent or adult guardian with you.

  • Request library instruction (faculty)

    Library instruction sessions prepare students to find, evaluate and utilize information found through library research tools. Librarians work with UIC faculty to create sessions relevant to course assignments such as research papers. We are available to meet with your students in your classroom, online or in our teaching labs for hands-on research instruction tailored to your needs.

  • Use other non-UIC libraries

    UIC students, faculty and staff can visit several academic and research libraries in Illinois and the Chicago area. You are able to enter some libraries by showing your UIC i-card or registering with the library. You can also request books for pick up at UIC through the I-Share Catalog.
