Books in Richard J. Daley Library

Books are shelved on the second, third and fourth floors of the Richard J. Daley Library. For locations, see the Daley Library Guide for locations of books.

The Richard J. Daley Library, opened in the late 1960s as the Main Library, houses books in the arts, humanities, sciences, social sciences, mathematics, and engineering.

The Library has a strong book collection that supports research and teaching in the subject areas taught at the University with extensive coverage of university press titles and selected coverage from commercial publishers, societies, institutions, and agencies.

Special Collections at the Richard J. Daley Library focus on the political, social, architectural and literary history of Chicago.  There are also large collections of literature from the Caribbean and from American Indians.

Books in Library of the Health Sciences - Chicago

Books at the Library of the Health Sciences-Chicago (LHS-Chicago) are located on the third floor. Reference books, new books, and open reserves are on the first floor.

Books in the LHS-Chicago support education, research, and clinical practice in the medicine, dentistry, nursing, applied health sciences, pharmacy, and public health.

Special Collections at LHS-Chicago focus on neurology, urology, dermatology, and the history of medicine. There are also collections of early anatomies and herbals, pharmacopoeias, and formularies.

Books in the Library of the Health Sciences - Peoria

The book collection at Library of the Health Sciences - Peoria (LHS-Peoria) covers basic medical sciences, clinical medicine, nursing, and public health with special emphasis on the neurosciences and cancer biology, including the "Information for the Cure" breast cancer collection, funded by the Peoria Memorial Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Books in Crawford Library of the Health Sciences

The majority of the book collection of Crawford Library of the Health Sciences-Rockford is in clinical medicine with additional books about nursing, consumer health, allied health, and biomedicine.
