Disability Services at LHS-Urbana

LHS-Urbana Disability Services

Retrieval and Photocopying of Library Materials

  • Library staff retrieve books and journals from the stacks and coordinate photocopying of materials for patrons with disabilities. Library staff will make every effort to retrieve items at the time they are requested; however, turnaround time may vary depending on the complexity and volume of a request.
  • Users with disabilities can opt to have copies made for them by library staff at no additional cost ($0.15 per page, $0.09 with copy card).

Physical Accessibility

The Library of the Health Sciences-Urbana is located in the Medical Sciences Building at 506 S. Mathews, Urbana. The Library has two floors.

Lower floor:

  • Circulation and reference service desks;
  • Computer workstations, photocopiers, study carrels;
  • Reference collection, new bookshelf, slide collection, bound journal collection, and recently received issues of journals.

Upper floor:

  • Study spaces, AV rooms, the AV collection, retrospective journal collection and the book stacks.

Elevator Access

The Library does not have an internal elevator. Elevator access to the 2nd floor of the library can be arranged with library staff.

Library staff will accompany visitors upstairs using elevators elsewhere in the building, to open the secure doors to the library and be of assistance for any other needs

Restrooms

Restrooms are located outside of the library in the main building and are handicapped accessible.
