Daley Library IDEA Commons Workshops:
General Information:
- Workshops take place in the IDEA Commons classroom
- Workshops are offered as drop-in workshops (no registration necessary)
- Workshops begin promptly so that librarians can cover all material
- Feel free to bring your own laptop (make sure you've set up wireless access in advance)
RefWorks: Organizing Research and Creating Bibliographies: This is a two-part workshop. You may attend the first and/or second parts of the workshop. Part one (first 45 minutes) covers the basics: Getting an account, exporting citations, making folders and generating bibliographies. Part two (last 45 minutes) covers more advanced features including using Write-N-Cite to insert in-text citations, using RefGrabIt to import Web sites and importing from PubMed and Google Scholar.
Casting a Wider Net: Powerful Research Tools Across the Disciplines: This workshop is appropriate for graduate students or anyone pursuing in-depth research who would like to brush up on research tools allowing them efficiently search across multiple databases and subject areas. Proquest, Google Scholar, ISI Web of Knowledge, Dissertations and Theses, JSTOR and Worldcat will be covered, as well as procedures for obtaining materials from other libraries.
Finding Articles: Learn the basics of finding scholarly, popular and newspaper articles using a variety of databases.
