2020 census citizenship question sparks concerns, Illinois will sign onto lawsuit

CHICAGO (WLS) — A single question has triggered a controversy over the US census; for the first time in decades, people will be asked whether or not they are U.S. citizens.

A dozen states are now suing over the question.

The census may sound boring, but it’s important

“Very important to really all aspects of government,” said University of Illinois – Chicago Government and Information Librarian Benjamin Aldred.
