Women’s rights advocates have worked for the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment since 1972 when Congress sent it to the states (Illinois ratified the ERA in April 2018). ERA Illinois was a chapter of the national organization and an umbrella association for more than 40 organizations including the AFL-CIO and the League of Women Voters. The “ERA YES!” exhibit features photographs, publicity pieces and publications related to the ratification campaign from the Library’s Special Collections and University Archives.
“ERA YES! The Fight for Gender Equality in Illinois” is open to the public during regular Special Collections and University Archives hours through Dec. 20, 2019. For more information, contact (312) 996-2742.
