Library to launch new system June 24

The UIC University Library, along with all I-Share libraries, is migrating to a new library search system that will replace current options for searching for books, journals and articles. Users will have an improved login, search and book request experience with the new system. However, your bookmarks/favorites to items in the current Library catalog and I-Share (VuFind) and the current Journals search (Serials Solutions) will no longer function, and you will need to update them after the June 24 launch date.

Please prepare for the transition as follows:

  • Identify bookmarks/favorites to Library materials (such as books and journals) that must be updated after June 24. Instructions on how to update them in the new system are forthcoming.
  • If you have a Saved Items list in your UIC Library account (VuFind), please export your list to a citation manager (RefWorks, EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, etc.). For help with this process, please email us.

We appreciate your patience during this transition to a new system and apologize for any inconvenience. We are confident that this change will result in improved access to Library materials.

Your liaison librarian will be in touch. Liaisons are available to answer questions and troubleshoot, assist with updating bookmarks and demonstrate the new system individually or for groups. In the meantime, here are materials to help you use the new system.
