Short Reads Book Club

Illustrations of hands holding open books. At the center of the image is the text

In partnership with the Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change, in August 2024, the University Library's Undergraduate Engagement Program launched the Short Reads Club. The book club introduces thought-provoking works while discussing significant cultural and lived experiences of various identity groups. The Short Reads Book Club exposes UIC students to different types of literature while meeting the students where they are, as many UIC students are commuter students and are short on time. For this book club every student can come as they are without every reading the book. For every event, the selected text is read aloud and discussed within the 60 - 90 minute period.
