Images for Health Sciences and Medical Research

Subject and research Guides for Health Sciences topics contain links and advice for finding images. Some databases of medical textbooks provide separate search access to the textbook illustrations and photos. Some examples:

Open Access Images

For general images that you're free to re-use, try the following resources:

Unsplash

  • Extra images by professional photographers, which can be freely used.  Lots of stock photographs.

Flickr Search

  • Look for photos with a Creative Commons license—use the "any license" drop-down to make a choice.
  • Some photos require you to give attribution to the photographer, or you can only use the photo for a non-commercial purpose
  • Important: photographers can change their license terms at any time!

Wikipedia Public Domain Image Resources

  • Art images, stock photo images and more that can be freely used.
