Join us for a book talk and celebration of former 46th Ward Alderperson Helen Shiller!

Former Alderperson Helen Shiller will speak about her recently published memoir, “Daring to Struggle, Daring to Win” (Haymarket Books 2022) and reflect upon her many decades as a fighter and leader in the 46th Ward. The memoir draws upon her extensive archives chronicling people’s movements and the long histories of resistance to urban renewal in Uptown and Chicago. Shiller generously donated her archives to the UIC University Library Special Collections and University Archives. The Helen Shiller collection will be made available to the public later this year.

Free to the public.

Copies of "Daring to Struggle, Daring to Win" will be available for purchase at the event courtesy of the UIC Bookstore.
