Visitor Services

All library locations are open to anyone, though some restrictions apply if you are not affiliated with UIC. Visitors can use books and other materials and services (such as research help) in person during most of the hours the library locations are open.

Visiting: Library Location Hours

Please note that a UIC ID is required during certain hours; please check each particular location for more information.

Using computers

Visitor research computers are available at all library locations.  You can use these to access online journals, e-books and databases. Bring a flash drive for downloading online materials. Visiting Special Collections and University Archives

If you would like to use special collections, rare books, manuscripts, maps or the University Archives, make an appointment for your visit in advance. Because materials are stored in a variety of locations — some of them off-site — it may take several work days to retrieve needed items.

Visiting the UIC School of Law Library

UIC recently acquired the John Marshall Law School, now known as the UIC School of Law. The UIC School of Law Library primarily serves the faculty and students of the Law School and is administered separately from the UIC University Library. Nevertheless, the Law Library does provide services to the UIC community.
