Hats off to the UIC Library’s Student Employees!

By Yaminah El-Amin, General Office Assistant, Human Resources
All of our student employees play a vital role in the success of the UIC University Library, bringing dedication, enthusiasm and invaluable contributions to our campus community. This May, 18 of the 87 student workers employed by the Library will graduate. As they prepare to begin the next phases of their journeys, the library is proud to recognize their hard work and celebrate their achievements.
For National Student Employment Week, April 13-19, and throughout the month of April, we are introducing several initiatives to highlight our graduating student employees and show our appreciation for their efforts. One of these is a digital recognition board, “Library Hall of Flames,” featuring the UIC Library’s graduating class of student employees on screens in the Richard J. Daley Library and the Library of the Health Sciences-Chicago. The screens display each student’s name, major, and a professional photograph taken by Digitization Manager Roberta Dupuis-Devlin and Digital Imaging Specialist II Miguel Vazquez.
Additionally, we’ve conducted interviews with graduating student employees, giving them an opportunity to share their experiences and reflections.
In these interviews, students answered questions such as:
- Are you involved in any organizations outside of the UIC Library?
- What are your plans after graduation?
- What’s one memorable moment or project you’ve worked on?
- How has your experience here impacted your academic or career journey?
- What has been your favorite part about working at the UIC Library?
Through these conversations, students shared personal stories about their time at the library and how their work experience has shaped their college careers. The interviews will be featured on the UIC Library’s website and Instagram account, allowing us to reach a broader audience within the UIC community.
As we pay tribute to our graduating student employees, celebrating their contributions, favorite library moments and future aspirations, we thank them for their hard work and wish them much success!
Congratulations to the UIC Library Student Employee Class of 2025!
