JSTOR Update
JSTOR has been a popular resource with UIC researchers since the Library began as a member in 1999. It provides an archive of journals, each going back to volume 1, issue 1, but with nothing more current than the preceding five years. As the five-year mark moves forward, the JSTOR collections continue to grow with JSTOR adding approximately 12 million new pages annually. Additionally JSTOR is continually selecting new titles to add to its collections.
JSTOR has recently introduced several new features: faster PDF downloads of full text; search term highlighting (which may be turned off); and cut-and- paste from the PDF. JSTOR is also taking steps to link the older issues of titles archived by JSTOR with the recent issues published online, allowing scholars to search and browse the title, author, and abstract information for articles in the recent issues in addition to searching the full text for the past articles in JSTOR. Thus far JSTOR is partnering with eight content providers in this initiative including Blackwell Publishing, Oxford University Press, the University of Chicago Press, and Project Muse.
