When must I request permission?

You must request permission to reuse an image or copy of a photograph, document, artifact, or anything else from our collections whenever you wish to publish it or display it publicly.

Is permission guaranteed?

No. Granting permission to publish or display is at the discretion of the UIC Library. In some cases, items may be in the public domain or fair use may apply. Learn more about copyright and permissions.

How long does it take?
